3 in 5 patients with ON have a chronic demyelinating disease

All patients presenting with optic neuritis (ON) should be investigated thoroughly for chronic demyelinating diseases, according to researchers. The call follows study findings showing that 60% of patients with ON have, or go on to develop, multiple sclerosis (MS), neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD), or myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody (MOG) disease.
