Adolescent and parent cognitive and behavioural responses may increase fatigue in multiple sclerosis

  • Negative attitudes and unhelpful coping behaviours among patients and their parents, but not objectively measured neurocognitive impairment, are associated with more severe fatigue in paediatric multiple sclerosis.

Why this matters

  • Fatigue is a disabling symptom of paediatric and adolescent MS, but the biopsychosocial factors contributing to its exacerbation or alleviation are poorly understood.
