Characterizing multinodular and vacuolating neuronal tumors with multiparametric MRI

Takeaway

  • Multiparametric imaging of suspected multinodular and vacuolating neuronal tumors (MVNTs) showed no patterns indicative of malignancy.

Why this matters

MVNT is a rare brain lesion added to the World Health Organization (WHO) Classification of Tumors of the Central Nervous System in 2016. It is often asymptomatic and remains unknown whether MVNT should be considered a neoplasm or malformative lesion. Present pathology studies are conflicting. Advanced multiparametric MRI may be useful in characterizing MVNTs.
