Clinical outcomes of patients with acute radicular pain

  • Most patients with acute cervical radiculopathy typically have a favorable outcome after 6–12 months after presentation.

Why this matters

  • Disc herniations tend to decrease in size as demonstrated in radiographic natural history studies, but radiographic changes may or may not correlate with the clinical natural history of acute cervical radiculopathy.

  • No study has compared the clinical outcomes of cervical radiculopathy caused by soft disc herniation or osteophyte.
