Computed tomography small vessel disease biomarkers predict outcome post-intracerebral hemorrhage

  • Several computed tomography biomarkers of small vessel disease are linked to one-year death or dependence following first-ever small vessel disease-intracerebral hemorrhage.

Why this matters

Spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage is the most severe type of stroke with high mortality, and disability and functional dependence in those who survive. Determining risk factors for poor outcome following intracerebral hemorrhage could facilitate discussions about prognosis with affected individuals and their carers, and guide treatment decisions.
