Differential gene expression and splicing in Parkinson’s disease

  • Pairing genome-wide association study (GWAS) and quantitative trait loci (QTL) data identified changes in gene expression, splicing or methylation in genes associated with the risk of Parkinson’s disease (PD)

Why this matters

GWAS in PD has led to many loci shown to be associated with increased risk of disease. Improved understanding of the underlying genes and mechanisms at these loci will be key to understanding the pathogenesis of PD.
