Diffusion tensor imaging abnormalities and histopathology in cerebral amyloid angiopathy

  • Specific histological features (axonal and myelin loss in particular) were identified as candidate pathogenic mechanisms in diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) changes in patients with cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA).

Why this matters ?

  • Uncovering the histopathology of abnormal DTI values in patients with small vessel disease will allow for a more mechanistic interpretation of DTI measures.
