Dual task gait and head trauma in retired NFL players

  • Remote assessment of dual task walking may provide important information on brain dysfunction in former professional American-style football (ASF) players and others exposed to high-risk repetitive head trauma.

Why this matters

Longer term effects of ASF-related trauma on objective metrics of cognitive-motor function are poorly understood; assessment of dual walking tasks could be used to detect such effects prior to cognitive complaints and other clinical symptoms.
