Effective learning and high-dimensional and efficient representations of neural activity


  • A tool for quantifying and understanding the geometry of neural responses in humans has been developed that can help identify more effective learners, who are characterized by higher dimensional representation on functional MRI and more compact embedding of neural responses.

  • The ability to group stimuli into meaningful identities, achieved via mapping of neural activity patterns, is fundamental to human cognition; this study identified geometric measures that can be used understand how individuals learn to successfully distinguish between relevant stimuli in their environment over time.
