Efficacy of endovascular treatment in acute basilar artery occlusion

  • People with acute ischemic stroke and acute basilar artery occlusion (BAO) show improved functional recovery following endovascular treatment (EVT) given within 24 hours of occlusion time.

Why this matters

Although EVT is effective for acute ischemic stroke in the anterior circulation, whether people with acute BAO will also benefit from EVT remains unclear. These findings may have important implications for the management of people with acute BAO.
