  • Frontotemporal lobar dementia (FTLD) can be diagnosed with broader criteria than previously recognized; this should improve timely and appropriate management of patients.

Why this matters

  • It is not currently clear whether FTLD involves advanced age or is exclusively an early-onset dementia, therefore, better clarity is needed on diagnostic criteria to understand incidence.
