Global reduction in stroke care during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic


  • During the first 4 months of the COVID-19 pandemic, there was a global decline in stroke hospitalizations, intravenous thrombolysis, and interfacility intravenous thrombolysis transfers.

Why this matters ?

  • This is the largest global study to explore the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on stroke care, conducted across a diverse geography across 6 continents and 70 countries. The important findings will guide future studies and local policies in the event of repeated COVID-19 surges and future pandemics.
