New research suggests that irisin may help explain how physical exercise improves memory and cognition.

Sporadic Alzheimer’s disease (AD) results from the complex interaction of genes, environmental factors, and lifestyle, said Dr Fernanda De Felice of Queen's University in Kingston, Canada, and the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

While genetic factors are generally non-modifiable, social and lifestyle factors can be modified to improve health outcomes and promote healthy aging.
