Migraineurs have altered behavioral and neuronal responses during a virtual roller coaster ride

  • Migraineurs experience more dizziness and motion sickness with longer symptom duration and intensity in a virtual roller coaster ride compared with controls.

Why this matters

This novel study is the first to use a paradigm that considers anticipation of gravity effects and simulation of real conditions to demonstrate altered processing and integration of the visual/motion stimuli in migraineurs. The findings are consistent with migraineurs often reporting visual, vestibular, and proprioceptive misperception during attacks.
