Neurodegeneration in multiple sclerosis: serum neurofilament light chain and optical coherence tomography

  • The biomarker of neuronal damage, serum neurofilament light chain (sNfL) is significantly associated with optical coherence tomography (OCT) measurements of neuroaxonal damage in those with multiple sclerosis (MS).

Why this matters

Including both biomarker monitoring of sNfL and OCT measures may improve monitoring of neurodegeneration in future clinical trials of MS.
