Nuclei-specific thalamic connectivity and seizure frequency in medial temporal lobe epilepsy

  • Differences in the resting state functional connectivity (RSFC) of thalamic nuclei between subjects with drug-resistant medial temporal lobe epilepsy (mTLE) and normal subjects were identified and some nuclei correlated with seizure frequency.

Why this matters

  • Understanding normal connectivity of the thalamus and in epilepsy may lead to insights in fundamental neurophysiology and may provide a biomarker in neurological disease.
