Takeaway
Cinematic visualization (CV) fusing omni-planar and surface functional projections may provide a useful adjunct for interpreting complex intracranial recordings of epileptiform activity and subsequent surgical planning.
Why this matters
Intracranial electroencephalography (ICEEG) recordings provide unparalleled data on direct seizure locations in patients with refractory focal epilepsy (RFE); however, simultaneous reconciliation of deep recording locations and reliable tracking of evolving ictal patterns can be significant challenges.
CV may constitute an additional option for investigation of epileptiform activity and surgical planning in patients with RFE, as well as a potential communication tool among healthcare providers; however, further study in other cohorts is required for validation.
