In children with CLN3 disease, motor function is impaired at the time of diagnosis. The motor decline observed in CLN3 disease could not be attributed to visual impairments.
Why this matters
This is the first study to use the 6-Minute Walk Test (6MWT) to describe motor functioning in visually impaired individuals, including those with CLN3 disease. The results from this study support using the 6MWT for CLN3 disease progression assessment in clinical follow-up and future therapeutic studies.
