Predicting progression to dementia in PD patients

New findings have highlighted the importance of specific genetic variants on the risk of progression to dementia in individuals with Parkinson’s disease (PD).

At the MDS 2021 virtual congress, researchers from centers across Europe taking part in the Parkinson’s Incidence Cohorts Collaboration (PICC) reported on the effects of genetic variants in β-glucocerebrosidase (GBA), apolipoprotein E (APOE), microtubule-associated protein tau (MAPT), and α-synuclein (SNCA) loci.
