Principle component analysis of serum triglycerides in Alzheimer’s Disease

  • Poly-unsaturated triglycerides (PUTGs) are associated with Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) development, especially in apolipoprotein- Ɛ4 (APOE-Ɛ4) carriers.

Why this matters

The APOE-Ɛ4 allele is a major risk factor for AD and its product, ApoE protein, may influence serum triglyceride (TG) levels by acting as a ligand for TG-rich lipoproteins.
