Prolonged altered brain responses in infants with germinal matrix-intraventricular hemorrhage

  • In pre-term infants who had germinal matrix-intraventricular hemorrhage, altered brain responses to mechanical limb stimulation persist for several weeks after the injury.

Why this matters

High-grade germinal matrix-intraventricular hemorrhage is one of the most frequent causes of somatomotor neurodisability in pre-term infants. These findings further our understanding of the functional reorganization of this commonly acquired brain injury.
