Quantifying gait unsteadiness in individuals with orthostatic tremor

  • People with advanced orthostatic tremor (OT) exhibit distinct gait abnormalities and even continual tremor discharge in their non-weight bearing limb during gait procession, a feature contradicting current understanding of the disease pathology.

Why this matters

Sparse data of OT gait characterization exist in literature. The data gathered in this study suggest an OT physiology similar to cerebellar disorders and contradict the weight-bearing hypothesis concerning the nature of the disease.
