Speech recordings may help detect onset of Huntington’s disease, researchers say

Digital, wearable device that remotely monitor and analyze speech may help detect the onset of symptoms in patients with Huntington’s disease (HD), new research indicates.

“Speech performance may deteriorate in HD gene carriers who are close to disease onset,” according to Dr Jamie Adams of the University of Rochester, New York, USA. “Changes in speech can be detected even before more overt motor symptoms manifest.”
