Targeting specific tau epitopes prevents seeding and propagation of tau pathology

  • A tau antibody targeting a specific central epitope on tau fibrils is able to prevent their seeding and propagation in mouse models of Alzheimer’s disease (AD).

Why this matters ?

  • Evidence is increasing to indicate that tau seeding and ‘prion-like’ propagation is central to tau pathologies such as AD. Establishing anti-tau antibodies that can slow or halt tau propagation may therefore provide the basis for development of effective therapies.
