Neuropsychological test performance is associated with neuropathological outcomes in Alzheimer’s dementia (AD).
Why this matters
AD is a clinically heterogenous disease and the biological pathways involved in the development and progression of cognitive decline are not completely recognized. This hinders early identification and treatment of affected individuals.
Predicting the underlying pathology of AD may advance diagnosis, inform prognosis, and guide treatment at early stages of cognitive impairment and dementia.
