The role of non-guided, self-help and education in motor Functional Neurological Disorder

  • Non-guided self-help and online education alone were not effective interventions in their own right in patients with motor Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) but may provide additional improvement to overall health when used in addition to usual care.

Why this matters

Education and self-help intervention are commonly believed by clinicians to be an important component of treatment for motor FND. This study demonstrated no significant improvement in patients who used unguided self-help, compared with those who did not.
