Typical Lewy body pathology but not atypical pathology follows Braak progression

  • In this population-based autopsy cohort with higher prevalence of Lewy pathology (LP), the Braak system was more efficient in characterizing progression compared with other staging systems but atypical cases were highly dependent on the method of staging system chosen.

Why this matters

  • Proper staging method may help in understanding why some aged subjects with widespread LP may be asymptomatic.
