Ultra-high-field MRI imaging tract damage may inform prognosis following pituitary macroadenoma

  • Neuronal damage caused by pituitary macroadenomas correlates strongly with neuro-ophthalmological findings, thereby permitting characterization of pathway damage for prognosis of vision recoverability.

Why this matters ?

  • Pituitary macroadenomas are common lesions which typically result in visual field defects; however, the microstructure of damage caused by these tumors is relatively unknown. With the use of ultra-high-field MRI, tract impairment was able be correlated to damage to visual pathways.
